About Us

One Safe Place Macon will be one of Georgia’s first three family justice centers (FJC) where clients can access resources in crisis with over 20 entities collaborating to serve victims in this center. While these service providers currently work together to refer to each other and ensure victims are aware of services, victims can become overwhelmed when they seek help at various providers, complete multiple intakes, and retell their traumas. Victims served include domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder and dependent adult abuse and human trafficking.

In the Fall of 2020, Crisis Line & Safe House of Central Georgia invited 8 community partners to the table to dream big about what a family justice center could look like in our region. Our current plans eclipse that 2020 vision, and we know that One Safe Place Macon will eliminate barriers to access services and support for our vulnerable and traumatized community members. The strength of our collaborative and the support of our community is what has turned this vision into reality.

Our Goals

Breaking Barriers to Access: The Family Justice Center Model

Currently, victims may not access services for a variety of reasons including not having knowledge of available services, the services are too scattered across the community, lack of transportation, and lack of time-off from work, but the Family Justice Center addresses many of these barriers by eliminating the number of trips a victim will need to make to get help.

The Family Justice Center model addresses the hopelessness victims often feel when they believe nothing can be done by ensuring victims are aware of all available options and empowered to choose which ones meet their needs. This model will address intergenerational trauma and polyvictimization by co-locating DV, sexual assault, and child abuse specialists together.

One Safe Place offers a systems change in serving those who have experienced trauma in our community. By co-locating services, and focusing on the family as a whole, OSPM will provide integrated and coordinated support and resources that are vital.
